Culinary Class @ Maize Career Academy
Once again we are partnering with USD 266 to bring you classes utilizing the Career Academy located at the Maize High School campus. All cooking classes will take place at this location. This will be a hands-on class and you will walk away with not only great recipes but food you can take home!
Instructor: Jennifer Deabler
1/20: Chocolate Desserts, participants will create chocolate in various forms including, ganache,mousse and cake.
2/17: Valentine’s Sugar Cookie - Decorating, participants will learn different icing consistencies and decorating techniques. Cookies and royal icing will be pre-made. You will decorate four different designs.
3/31: Specialty Cookies, participants will create cookies including, Spritz, Chocolate Molasses and Chocolate Almond Praline cookies.
4/28: Taste of Greece, participants will travel to Greece learning to make baklava, jam tarts, and Greek Christmas cookies.
5/19: Pastry Tartes and Pies, participants will learn how to make pie and tart dough from scratch. Leaving with fruit tarte and an apple pie.
Instructor: Cara Poole
2/9: Air Fryer, in this hands on class you will learn how to properly use an air fryer. Each participant will make parts of a meal with the popular kitchen gadget that can help you
achieve a delicious deep-fried texture, all without a hot mess of oil.
3/23: Pasta, participant will hand make fresh pasta from scratch. Instructor will demonstrate ravioli.
4/13: Knives, a chef’s knife is the most important tool in the kitchen, this course will include, handling and proper knife cuts. Recipes made will allow for practicing cutting technique.
Participants are encouraged to bring their own personal air fryer or knives per class registered for. Arrangements can be made ahead of time if participants do not have their own equipment. Supplies are limited.
