Youth Basketball League for 1st–6th Grade Boys and Girls!

Divisions:
1st/2nd Grade | 3rd/4th Grade | 5th/6th Grade
Get ready to hit the court! Maize Rec’s Youth Basketball League gives 1st–6th graders a chance to learn the game, sharpen their skills, and enjoy the excitement of basketball in a fun, supportive environment. There’s no high-pressure competition, just growth, teamwork, and plenty of fun right here in our community.

What to Expect

  • Weekly Practices: One practice per week, led by volunteer coaches. Practices will be held at USD 266 elementary schools, Monday through Friday, with start times at 6 PM or 7 PM. Practice times are selected by the volunteer coach.
  • Saturday Games: Games will be played Saturday mornings at Maize South Middle School and Maize Middle School. A potential third game site could be added (TBD, it will be a USD 266 school).

Key Dates (2025–26 Season)

  • Registration Deadline: October 13th, 2025
  • Coaches Meeting: Week of October 27th, 2025
  • Practices Begin: Week of November 3rd, 2025
  • Games Start: Saturday, December 6th, 2025
  • Tentative Team Picture Day: Saturday, December 13th, 2025
  • Tentative Game Dates: 12/6/25, 12/20/25, 1/10/26, 1/17/26, 1/24/26, 1/31/26, 2/7/26, 2/14/26

Fees

  • In-District Players: $55
  • Out-of-District Players: $65
  • Family Cap (In-District): $120
  • Family Cap (Out-of-District): $135
    • All registrations include a uniform, medal, and memory mate (individual/team picture)
Family Cap Discount: Registering three or more kids? Call (316) 729-7818 to complete registration over the phone and receive your family discount. Please create your Maize Rec account before calling.

Volunteer Coaches (New for 2025–26)

For up to two volunteer coaches per team (head coach and assistant coach), Maize Rec will refund each coach’s child registration fee in the form of an account credit. This credit can be applied toward future sports or programs.
Refunds will be issued at the end of the season, provided that both coaches remain in good standing with our program by:
  • Passing a background check
  • Demonstrating good sportsmanship (no unsportsmanlike conduct)
  • Maintaining consistent attendance at practices and games
All volunteers will be vetted by the Sports Director, and the most qualified/experienced candidates will be selected. Marking “Yes” to volunteering on the registration form does not guarantee selection.
