Youth Basketball League
Youth Basketball League for 1st–6th Grade Boys and Girls!
Maize Rec’s Youth Basketball League provides boys and girls in 1st through 6th grade with an opportunity to build basketball skills, teamwork, sportsmanship, and confidence in a fun, recreational environment. Our league focuses on player development, participation, and creating a positive basketball experience for athletes of all skill levels.
Registration Information
- Registration Opens: September 1st, 2026
- Registration Deadline: October 12th, 2026
- In-District Fee: $55
- Out-of-District Fee: $65
- In-District Family Cap: $120 - 3 or more kids
- There is no family cap for out-of-district registrations.

Important Dates
- Coaches' Meetings: Week of October 26th—meetings will be hosted at 10100 W Grady Ave
- 10/26 - 1st-2nd girls @ 6pm - 1st-2nd boys @ 7pm
- 10/27 - 3rd-4th girls @ 6pm - 3rd-4th boys @ 7pm
- 10/28 - 5th-6th girls @ 6pm - 5th-6th boys @ 7pm
- Practices Begin: Week of November 2nd
- Games Begin: Saturday, December 5th
- Tentative Game Dates: 12/5, 12/12, 12/19, 1/9, 1/16, 1/23, 1/30, 2/6, 2/13, 2/20
Practices & Games
Teams practice once per week at USD 266 school gyms.
Practice days and times are selected by each team's volunteer coach at the preseason coaches' meeting based on the coach's availability. Because practice schedules are coach-selected, specific practice days and times are not available at the time of registration.
Games are played on Saturdays at:
- Maize South Middle School
- Maize Middle School
- Maize Intermediate School
Additional league information, including team assignments, practice schedules, game schedules, rules, and coaches' information, will be distributed as the season approaches.
Volunteer Coaches: New for 2026
For up to two volunteer coaches per team, Maize Rec will provide registration fee refunds in the form of an account credit equal to the value of an in-district registration. Each selected coach will receive a full refund of their child’s registration fee. Account credits may be applied toward future Maize Rec sports or programs.
Refunds will be issued at the end of the season, provided that both coaches remain in good standing with our program by:
- Passing a background check
- Upholding the Coaches Code of Conduct, including no unsportsmanlike conduct
- Maintaining consistent attendance at practices and games
All volunteers will be vetted by the Sports Director, and the most qualified and experienced candidates will be selected. Marking “Yes” to volunteering on the registration form does not guarantee selection.
